On 29th October 2009 Rosberg announced he was leaving the Williams team at the end of the season. He commented that Williams "have really supported my career over the years and I'd like to say a big thank you to them", however "I'm not sure they can win races at the moment and I would like to" For 2010 he has been linked to McLaren where he would replace Heikki Kovalainen and has also been linked to another Mercedes-powered team, Brawn GP where he could replace Rubens Barrichello, who could move the other way to Williams.
